YAHOO! JAPAN COMEDIAN NONVERBAL FESTIVAL

This program showcases video works that Japanese comedians (Geinin), who make you laugh through verbal communication,create with nonverbal expressions such as facial expression, eye contact, body language, and gestures.

What’s “Yahoo! JAPANGeinin Nonverbal Festival”?

Nonverbal means “without language,” or “not to use words.” Silent movies before the emergence of talkies are nonverbal expression. We can say that nonverbal expression is the form of the oldest films. Without relying on words, nonverbal movies entertain people with motion and expression of characters as well as through editing technologies. Nonverbal movies are world’s universal entertainment. 100 groups of junior to experienced Yoshimoto Geinin comedians take up the challenge to create such nonverbal films. At the “Yahoo! JAPAN Geinin Nonverbal Festival” film event, comedians, who make us laugh through verbal communication, will enjoy each work with audience. Please check on how the comedians, who usually communicate verbally in order to make the audiences laugh, entertain them without talking. All the works presented at the event are now available in “Yoshimoto Theater (Yoshimoto gekijo)” within Yahoo! JAPAN as a featured program. These films are available as on-demand digital contents in the website.
